A long day turned stressful night for people trying to fly from Baltimore to Atlanta Sunday night.
All flights canceled after a power outage at Hartsfield Jackson International in Atlanta.
Georgia Power says an underground fire caused the chaos.
Their hope is to have the power back up by midnight Friday leaving people in Baltimore and at airports across the country stranded and waiting.
Jane Garnan has been trying to fly home to Atlanta since about 12:30 this afternoon.
She's one of several people stuck at the airport waiting for the power to come back in Atlanta now planning to spend a night sleeping in a chair.
"Well it should be a new experience again you can choose how you look at it but it is what it is," said Garnan.
She's got a seat for a flight Monday, but plans are still up in the air for others like Dawn Duss.
"I have to get to Nashville tonight because I have to be to work at 4am."
She’s hoping the wait in line ends with a new route.
"It's terrible we just have to get connecting flights to other cities and then to Nashville so I'm just waiting to get to another city and then into Nashville," said Duss.
Alan Buckelew is frustrated he was supposed to fly out of D.C. around 7 pm Friday night.
“The next best thing was here out of BWI tomorrow morning at 8," said Buckelew. “We got the last train from D.C. Here tonight to fly out in the morning, and I got a notification that my 8 am flights canceled so now that's pushed to 4 something tomorrow."
This instance not the airlines fault but people telling me it's been next to impossible to get them on the phone to reschedule.
