Man dies day after Annapolis double shooting

A man that was shot during a double shooting in Annapolis has died from his injuries. 

Police were called to the 1100 block of Madison Street Wednesday night after reports of hearing shots fired.

Officer found two shooting victims at the 1100 block of Medgar Evers Street in Annapolis.

Michael Covert, 36, died on Thursday. The other person shot, Lashira Addison, 41, has been released from the hospital.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Michael Covert following this tragedy," Mayor Michael Pantelides said. "I also pray for strength and healing for Ms. Addison following this devastating situation in our community. I will continue to work with the executive director of HACA and continue to coordinate our efforts, putting a stop to these senseless deaths that are causing havoc in our community. Our police department has once again demonstrated its commitment to finding and arresting those who are a danger to our residents, despite where they try to hide.  I commend the department for its dedication to our community and for their outstanding investigative work."

Barnabas Offer, Jr. has been charged with two counts of attempted first and attempted second degree murder. He is also facing assault charges, reckless endangerment, and more. 

Detectives are working on additional charges for Offer since Michael Covert died.
