Who doesn't like playing outside with a popsicle?
Well, that's just what parents and students did today at Hampden Elementary School.
It's part of the Popsicles and Principals initiative which aims to foster open conversations about education in the city. Children of all ages get to be in a safe place with their parents while enjoying a cool treat.
The main focus of these events is to bring the community together and both parents and school leaders say they work.
"What it says is, we can come together, whatever is happening at the school, we can make it better. So lets all chip in, let's all bring the parents and the kids and the staff and the principals together and say what can we do to have a really great year," said Richard Bruno, a parent.
"We all want the children to be successful, we all want the children to win and having events like this is really help bridge the gap," said Dr. Katrina Foster, Principal of Hampden Elementary School.
This is the second year for the collaboration between Baltimore City Public Schools, The Mayor's office, the Baltimore Teachers Union, and LIVE Baltimore.
