The Howard County Department of Public will be making two traffic changes to Columbia road ways Tuesday, June 17.

The intersection in Columbia's Village of Kings Contrivance where Vollmerhausen Road and Murray Hill Road meet will be converted into a three-way traffic stop.

The county will also convert the intersection of Gerwig Lane and Guilford Road in Columbia into a four-way traffic stop. A stop sign will be added in each direction on Gerwig Lane to create the new traffic pattern.

In both instances, traffic studies conducted recently show increased traffic volumes at both junctions, prompting the county to make the changes in an effort to improve safety.

Weather permitting, both road projects will be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday.
